A significant number of people have electronically signed a parliamentary petition demanding for revocation of Elon musk Canadian citizenship petition for his role in the Trump administration, posing a great threat to Canada's sovereignty.
The petition was begun by Nanaimo B.C author Qualia Reed, heading towards through the House of Commons process.
A vocal critic of Elon Musk, New Democrat MP Charlie Angus, has sponsored the petition, having approximately 34,000 signatures from across the country as of Saturday.
The tech billionaire belongs to South Africa but he received citizenship through his Regina-born mother. According to the petition, Musk has been involved in a few activities that violate Canadian rules and regulations.
Trump has threatened to impose wide-ranging taxes on Canadian products and he has openly considered Canada becoming the 51st country, instigating millions of Canadians.
The petition has called for the revocation of Elon musk Canadian citizenship and passport to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The electronic petition requires 500 or more signatures to get a certificate for presentation to the House of Commons, opening the way to a formal government response.
The House of Commons is scheduled to start sitting on March 24, but many anticipate a general election to be called before the return of MPs.
