Microsoft is set to receive a significant artificial intelligence (AI) update and is currently preparing its server capacity to support the next iteration of OpenAI’s models. As OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman previously hinted towards the launch of the GPT-4.5 large language model in the “coming weeks.”
According to The Verge, the model will be out “as early as next week.”
The American tech giant is soon to get the GPT-5 code in May; however, a previous report suggested that ChatGPT manufacturer aims to launch GPT-4.5 in late 2024, but that release was delayed.
In its place, the company started to launch its series of reasoning models, which vary from large language models in that they require less training to get improved results. They allowed OpenAI to frequently launch multiple latest reasoning models in standard and mini versions in a short period.
OpenAI’s latest reasoning models are the o3 and o3 mini models. The company has hinted at merging its large language models and reasoning models to avoid confusion and easily accomplish its mission to achieve artificial general intelligence (AGI).
Currently, users are required to select a model option for the type of processing result they need. However, GPT-5 is all set to incorporate o3 mini, enabling users to use both models in a single option.
While expressing his displeasure, Altman took to X (formerly Twitter) with the breakdown of several AI-powered models that are currently available for his platform, stating that he believes in the “magic of unified intelligence.”
