Rags to riches: BTS' Suga faced poverty, accidents before becoming global sensation

BTS member Suga is widely loved by millions across the globe, but it was not always like this as used to struggle to make ends meet before turning into a global music icon.

With a net worth of $10 million Suga had a humble beginning as less than a decade ago the idol had to choose eating or riding a bus home as he would barely earn two dollars.

While he made music by working part-time, it did little success.

"Every day, he’d ask himself if he should eat a 1,000 won noodle so he could have money leftover to take the bus home. Or should he treat himself to a 2,000-won noodle but have to walk home, taking two hours," Koreaboo reported.

His music career eventually took off when he auditioned for a rap competition hosted by a music company and got 2nd place, later joining as a producer and trainee.

However, times were still tough as he worked part-time as a deliveryman and got into an accident while on the job.

"I had the accident when I was delivering on a motorcycle. When I opened my eyes, I could see the wheels right in front of me. I got dragged into the wheels and couldn’t move because my shoulder was dislocated," Suga said.

He shared that his company Big Hit paid his medical bills to help him out.

Three years into training, what was supposed to the roadmap of being a producer turned into something else as he was convinced into joining BTS and the rest was history.
