Jake Gyllenhaal is all set to appear in filmmaker Sam Hargrave’s upcoming movie titled Combat Control in which the actor will be playing the role of late American war hero John Chapman, who sacrificed his life in 2002 during a battle in Afghanistan.
The 40-year-old will play the role of late Chapman in the military drama. The film is based on true events, Chapman lost his life while trying to protect his team members during their rescue mission.
Moreover, Chapman’s bravery was revealed by Air Force Captain Cora Alexander 15 years after his passing.
Description of Deadline reads as, “Following his death, no one imagined it would take over a decade for the truth of what really happened on that snowy mountainside to emerge. Fifteen years later, Air Force Captain Cora Alexander is tasked with the nearly impossible job of investigating whether Chapman is a worthy recipient of the medal.”
It adds, “Despite no eyewitnesses to his actions and the top-secret world surrounding clandestine operations. Alexander has to uncover the truth, and in revealing Chapman's sacrifice to the world, she forges her own path to self-forgiveness and personal redemption.”
