Jim Parsons claims ‘Big Bang Theory’ success comes with a price

Jim Parsons claimed that fame always comes with a price, and the success of The Big Bang Theory took a toll on his mental health.

The American actor revealed that the series, which ran for 12 seasons, from 2007 to 2019, gave a net worth in the hundreds of millions, but it also made him “miserable” and “stressed” at the height of his success.

“I look back now and realise that there were many ways, at some of the best moments of my life, I was miserable,” stated the 53-year-old during an appearance on All Out with Jon Dean.

The Young Sheldon actor remarked, “I was not happy. I was stressed.”

Interestingly, Jim starts to believe that the success and good things in life were only due to this “overworking… discipline and whatever”.

The Hidden Figures actor continued, “And maybe to a degree that was true. I don’t know.”

Jim further said that constant pressure he placed on himself isn’t worth the emotional toll.

“I can’t say, because that’s how I was,” he told the host.

However, the Home star pointed out, “I wouldn’t do that again and for any amount of money… just because it was stressful and miserable at times. I made myself miserable.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Jim mentioned that perfectionism did push his career but also trapped him in a cycle of obsessive behaviour.

“I had a good work ethic, but a lot of it was because it was kind of OCD in nature,” remarked the actor.

Meanwhile, Jim added that his obsessive routine had caused him to miss out on “tons of life”.
