Seth Rogen credits brutally honest cast chats for 'The Invite'

Seth Rogen has revealed that the cast of The Invite wasted no time diving into deeply personal territory as they prepared for the new comedy-drama.

The 44-year-old star, who appears alongside Olivia Wilde, Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton in the upcoming film, admitted the actors ended up sharing intimate details about their own relationships while getting ready to shoot.

Speaking to Variety, Seth explained that conversations quickly turned to topics such as healthy relationships, communication and sexual dynamics. 

The comedian said everyone became surprisingly open with one another, helping to create a stronger bond both on and off screen.

According to Seth, those honest discussions played a huge role in shaping the film and made the story feel far more authentic. 

He believes the cast's willingness to be vulnerable ultimately made The Invite a much better movie.

The film follows a struggling married couple, played by Seth and Olivia, whose relationship is put under the spotlight after they invite their unconventional neighbours, portrayed by Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton, over for dinner.

For the 42-year-old actress, the movie is about much more than laughs. 

The Booksmart actress and director hopes audiences will see reflections of their own lives in the story and come away feeling reassured that nobody has everything figured out.

She said comedy can provide a sense of relief, reminding people that life is challenging for everyone and that most people are simply doing their best.

The Don't Worry Darling director also revealed she has fallen in love with making comedies and hopes to bring many more to the big screen in the future.
