Tina Fey makes candid career confession: ‘I’m tired of hearing from me’

Tina Fey has delivered a hilarious but brutally honest take on getting older.

The 56-year-old comedy icon compared ageing to “reverse puberty” as she reflected on the changes that come with life in her fifties.

Tina, best known for Mean Girls, 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live, admitted that growing older has brought a whole new set of surprises, and not all of them are welcome.

Speaking on the Today show, she joked that ageing feels a lot like going through puberty all over again, only in reverse.

“I feel like it’s a reverse puberty in a way,” she said. 

“Your body starts to change and be disgusting in new ways.”

The Sisters actress laughed as she compared her current struggles to her teenage years, adding: “When you’re 12 or 13, you’re like, ‘Why am I so oily?’ And now you’re like, ‘Why am I so papery?’”

Despite her candid comments, Tina remains positive about what lies ahead. 

While she has enjoyed decades of success in television and film, she revealed she is open to exploring new creative projects, including writing a play or even trying her hand at prose.

At the same time, she confessed she’s perfectly happy with a quieter lifestyle, joking that she also enjoys “sitting still in a chair and drinking coffee outside”.

The Emmy-winning star has previously hinted that she may eventually step back from the spotlight. 

Speaking in 2025, she admitted the urge to “hide and retire” can be strong because she believes it is important to make room for fresh talent.
