Irish filmmaker John Carney has reflected on the unique experience of shooting his latest musical comedy-drama, Power Ballad, in Ireland with Hollywood stars Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas, while expressing concern that one of the country's most cherished traditions is fading away.

Speaking about the production, Carney said Ireland has long been known for allowing high-profile celebrities to move around largely undisturbed, a cultural trait he believes helped create a comfortable atmosphere for the cast during filming.

According to the director, locals have traditionally given famous visitors their space rather than overwhelming them with attention, enabling actors to immerse themselves in both their work and the local community.

The director suggested that this unwritten social rule is becoming less common in the age of smartphones and social media, where celebrity sightings can quickly spread online.

As per Daily Mail, he noted that the respect for privacy once associated with Irish culture is not as strong as it used to be.

Moreover, Power Ballad stars Paul Rudd as Rick Power, a wedding singer whose life changes after an encounter with former boy-band star Danny Wilson, played by Nick Jonas.

The film follows the fallout when a song created during an impromptu jam session becomes a major hit under controversial circumstances.

Filmed in Dublin and directed by Carney, whose previous credits include Once and Sing Street, the movie premiered at the Dublin International Film Festival before its wider theatrical release.
