Jennifer Garner has opened up about how she “hardly worked” for a long stretch after the emotional upheaval of her split from Ben Affleck.
The 53-year-old actress revealed that she stepped back from Hollywood to focus on raising her children.
The Alias star said her priorities shifted dramatically after becoming a mother.
She explained that her career naturally slowed as she took time off for pregnancies and early parenting.
Speaking in a candid new interview with InStyle, Jennifer said she essentially paused her fast-paced acting life for long stretches while raising Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.
“When my kids were little, I worked so little,” she admitted, adding that things became even more complicated after her separation from Affleck.
“We had such an upheaval in our family, that I really hardly worked for a long time.”
The 13 Going on 30 actress and Affleck married in 2005 and announced their separation in 2015, finalising their divorce in 2018.
Despite the split, the former couple have remained committed co-parents and are often seen together at family gatherings supporting their three children.
The Elektra star also revealed that her kids struggled when work took her away from home, but she praised them for being “bricks” during difficult times.
She explained that as her children have grown older, she has slowly returned to taking on more projects, including her new film The Five-Star Weekend.
The Daredevil actress said the experience reminded her how much she still loves acting, even describing it as a “selfish” job that demands full focus and long hours.
