Rosie O’Donnell has spoken about her facelift and how her views on aging shifted.
The comedian detailed her facelift experience in a recent Substack post, decisions, sharing before and after photos.
In the essay , she revealed that had always been firmly against facelifts and once considered them “a betrayal. Of feminism. Of aging. Of our team of women worldwide."
However, she said her perspective shifted after losing 50 pounds.
“There's a point where acceptance starts to feel like lying,” she wrote.
The TV personality also detailed that she researched the procedure but reconsidered it when her 13-year-old daughter Clay found out and advised against it.
According to the 64-year-old, her daughter “sounded exactly like me. Like my younger, more certain, more morally rigid self had somehow moved into my house.”
She added, “I want them to grow up in a world where they don't feel like they have to change but also know they can, if they want to, without losing moral standing in their own lives."
Despite describing the facelift as something that “cost more money than I have ever paid for a car,” she said hardly anyone noticed the change afterward.
“Not one person. Not a friend, not a stranger, not even people who owe me compliments,” she penned.
Moreover, she concluded by describing this chapter of her life as “act 3,” saying she is simply “happy to be alive.”
