Olivia Rodrigo is answering the one question on her fans’ minds after she introduced her new song off of her upcoming album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, The Cure.

The Obsessed singer sparked curiosity with her announcement of the second single off of her third studio album since she has famously performed with the rock band The Cure at Glastonbury in June of 2025 for their renditions of Friday I’m in Love and Just Like Heaven.

In an interview on the Elvis Duran Show, the 23-year-old cleared up, "Honestly, this song, 'The Cure,' has nothing to do with the band, although I love it so much, it just is a happy coincidence.”

Olivia added that she was proud of how it came to be "It's a new perspective that I haven't had the maturity to express before in earlier albums.” 

She revealed of the English band that even though they did not inspire the track, that the Lovesong lyricist Robert Smith was a friend.

The three-time Grammy winner went on to say that she loves the 67-year-old and the duo talks almost every week, and also called him amazing.

Notably, Robert has also praised the American singer in the past and said that he even brought her prior records Sour and Guts on CD.
