Barry Keoghan recently reveals how he has moved on from online abuse and embraces a new chapter in life.

Earlier, the Irish actor’s new look for the portrayal of The Beatles’ drummer role sparked backlash online as he received abusive comments.

This is not the first time that the actor has been subjected to online abuse.

Over the past years, Barry has been abused on internet about his own son, born in 2022 with a former partner and even accusing him of being an “absent father”.

Not only that, but also he was slammed for cheating on his ex-girlfriend Sabrina Carpenter.

Given his past, now the Crime 101 actor speaks to Variety and opens up that he’s ready “step into a new chapter of life where I let my work speak for me”.

“I want to close the book on it, put my head up, have a smile and enjoy the moment,” says the 33-year-old actor.

Barry points out that he “reads that line off something. I didn’t, but I did look out the window as I said it and smiled”.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Saltburn actor explains why he didn’t return to Peaky Blinders series.

“I pick projects quite specifically,” he stated.

Although he loved being a part of Peaky Blinders and loved making the movie, Barry won’t disclose the reason for not returning to the upcoming sequel series on Netflix.

“I carefully, cautiously pick because I just want to enjoy, and I want to heal, I want to tell, I want to find, I want to explore,” mentions The Batman star.

Barry adds, “I want to discover all of those things while I’m making a movie with people who are like-minded.”
