Bradley Cooper joins Cannes-unveiled animated film 'Ally' from 'Parasite' director

Bradley Cooper is diving into a completely unexpected role, as he leads a star-packed voice cast in a wild new animated adventure called Ally.

The 51-year-old Hollywood actor teams up with Ayo Edebiri, Finn Wolfhard and Dave Bautista for the film, which comes from acclaimed filmmaker Bong Joon Ho, best known for his Oscar-winning hit Parasite.

The project, unveiled at Cannes Film Festival, has already created a buzz thanks to its unusual concept and heavyweight cast. 

Cooper and his co-stars lend their voices to a colourful underwater world filled with strange creatures, emotional journeys and big cinematic ambition.

At the centre of the story is Ally, a curious piglet squid living deep in the South Pacific Ocean. 

She dreams of escaping the darkness and one day seeing the sunlight above the waves. 

But her life takes a dramatic turn when a mysterious aircraft crashes into the sea, pulling her into a dangerous adventure towards the surface.

Along the way, Ally is joined by a group of unlikely but loyal companions, as she discovers courage, friendship and the harsh realities of the world beyond the deep ocean.

The voice cast also includes A Minecraft Movie star Rachel House and legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog, adding even more intrigue to the already eclectic lineup.

Bong Joon Ho co-wrote the screenplay with Jason Yu and has described the production as “crazy, wild and tough”, admitting he’s been working on it tirelessly.

With animation talent drawn from 12 countries and top-tier studios like DNEG involved, Ally is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious animated films in years.
