Barbie Ferreira has lifted the lid on the harsh spotlight she’s faced, admitting she’s often felt like the “butt of this generation’s” obsession with body image.
The 29-year-old actress has candidly revealed how relentless chatter about her appearance once followed her everywhere, but insists she’s no longer letting it get under her skin.
Speaking on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, she didn’t hold back, blasting today’s fixation on “glow ups” and weight loss as “so boring”.
The Barbie Ferreira star said the internet has become hooked on picking apart women’s looks, turning it into what she calls “rage bait” designed to fuel clicks and outrage.
And she’s not alone as according to Barbie, every actress right now is being put under a microscope, judged for being “too skinny or too big", with social media only adding fuel to the fire.
The former Euphoria favourite confessed she felt the pressure most during her teenage years, when cruel comments hit hardest.
But with time has come perspective.
Now, she sees the bigger picture and it’s not pretty.
Barbie warned that society’s growing obsession with appearance is damaging for everyone’s mental health, saying the constant scrutiny is “not good for the psyche”.
Despite the noise, the actress remains fiercely driven.
She’s revealed she always dreamed of acting, even without industry connections, and refused to have a “plan B”.
