Kanye West, who is known for his chart-topping hit tracks, decided to make the first move as the France minister sought a legal action to block him.
The 48-year-old rapper was announced to be putting up a show on June 11, 2026 in Marseille, France which was opposed by the authorities.
Ye took to X and declared his “sole decision to postpone my show” in the city “until further notice.”
This came hours after the French Interior minister Laurent Nunez admitted he is “highly determined” to ban the musicale and is looking forward to “all possibilities” to stop it.
According to reports, Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his deep concerns on picking the Yeezy owner for a show.
A similar situation unfolded when the I Wonder hitmaker was announced to be a headliner for the Wireless Festival show.
Despite his apology, the Board of Deputies were highly critical of his presence in the country.
They accepted his request to meet only if he cancels the show voluntarily.
Kanye has been spitting out his controversial opinions at X (formerly Twitter) about several communities and gender that were deemed insensitive.
The bans are being appreciated by many celebrities, including David Schwimmer who slammed his apology and expressed gratitude towards the corporate sponsors.
