Keeley Hawes opens up about working with husband Matthew Macfadyen

Keeley Hawes has offered a rare insight into working alongside her husband, Matthew Macfadyen, shedding light on their on-screen dynamic and personal connection.

The couple, who first met while starring in the BBC spy drama Spooks, have occasionally reunited professionally over the years. 

Most recently, they appeared together in the ITV drama Stonehouse, marking a notable return to sharing the screen.

Speaking about the experience, Hawes described working with Macfadyen as both familiar and creatively fulfilling. 

According to Daily Mail, she suggested that their long-standing relationship allows for a natural ease when acting together, something that can be difficult to replicate with other co-stars. 

At the same time, she acknowledged the importance of maintaining professionalism on set, ensuring their personal lives do not overshadow their performances.

Hawes also reflected on the balance between their careers and family life, noting that while they both work in the same industry, they do not frequently collaborate.

Moreover, the pair, who married in 2004, have built successful individual careers in television and film while maintaining a relatively private personal life. 

Hawes is known for roles in dramas such as Bodyguard and It’s a Sin, while Macfadyen has earned critical acclaim for his performances in Succession and Pride & Prejudice.
