Jamie Lee Curtis has recently slammed unrealistic beauty standards in Hollywood.

The Freaky Friday actress opened up about pressures of looking a certain way as she discussed self-love amid ageing.

“Ageing happens but it’s coming for all of us, by the way,” said the 67-year-old during an appearance on latest episode of IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson.

However, Michelle replied that’s what Hollywood is all about.

To this, Jamie said that it’s not “just Hollywood,” but it’s “also the technology, it’s also social media as well as filtering”.

“It's what we used to call airbrushing is now just filtering. It's all fakery. It's just the fakery,” explained the 67-year-old.

The True Lies actress told the host, “It's the cosmeceutical industrial complex, which is as insidious in many ways as the military industrial complex is about money.”

Jamie further said that it often “preys on our base insecurities. For many people, it's what they look like”.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Halloween actress, who did go for plastic surgery in the past, shared that all these cosmetic procedures and fillers never discussed the core issue: self-esteem.

“I have succumbed, and have talked about it many times, to trying all the things," she continued.

Jamie pointed out that she “has sucked the fat as well as cut the fat. I've tried to do the things that people do that everybody's doing, and it doesn't work”.

Interestingly, the actress added, “It doesn't work, first of all, because of the self-esteem issue.”

“Because you ultimately are looking in the mirror and realising you've used something outside of yourself to change something to make you ‘better’,” added Jamie.
