Blake Lively’s lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni has proceeded speedily as Judge Lewis Liman made a major decision in court.
The Federal Judge dismissed the majority of the serious claims made by the Green Lantern actress, including sexual harassment, conspiracy and defamation.
Out of the Gossip Girl alum’s 13 allegations, only three will now go to trial since ten of them have been thrown out.
The three claims that Baldoni now faces are retaliation, and aiding and abetting in retaliation, which maintains the sharing and boosting negative stories about Lively online.
“This case has always been and will remain focused on the devastating retaliation and the extraordinary steps the defendants took to destroy Blake Lively’s reputation because she stood up for safety on the set and that is the case that is going to trial,” the mother-of-four’s lawyer said in a statement.
Sigrid McCawley added, “For Blake Lively, the greatest measure of justice is that the people and the playbook behind these coordinated digital attacks have been exposed and are already being held accountable by other women they’ve targeted.”
Lively’s attorney added that the harassment claims were dismissed not because Baldoni did nothing wrong but because the court recognised the former as an independent contractor and not an employee.
Notably, the Five Feet Apart director’s $400m defamation suit was also thrown out by Judge Lewis, because he failed to prove it.
