Kim Kardashian and her mum Kris Jenner have landed in hot water after suffering a legal blow.
The reality TV stars had sued singer Ray J last October for defamation, but a judge has refused to seal documents revealing the details of their settlement.
Kim and Kris had accused the 45-year-old singer of a “decades-long campaign” claiming they were under federal investigation for racketeering.
However, Ray hit back, arguing that the pair had violated a 2023 settlement over their infamous 2007 s*x tape.
According to court paperwork obtained by TMZ, the Los Angeles Superior Court ruled the pair hadn’t shown enough evidence that publicising the settlement terms would harm them.
This means the duo must now file unredacted versions of the deal, despite their lawyers insisting it resolved “highly sensitive matters” intended to protect their families from public scrutiny.
One Wish singer’s team branded Kim and Kris’ lawsuit a “public relations charade” filled with “malicious falsehoods”, claiming the legal action was more about “publicity, power and punishment” than defamation.
He is seeking $1 million in damages, plus legal fees, arguing their alleged breaches hurt his business prospects.
The What I Need hitmaker also claims he and the SKIMS founder had a consensual s*x tape in 2003 and that she insisted her mother oversee its release.
He alleges the 2023 settlement, which reportedly paid him $6 million to keep quiet and banned any further mention on The Kardashians, was broken just a month later during the show’s third season.
Ray insists Kim “manufactured a fresh fake s*x tape controversy” to promote the Hulu series, messaging him on Instagram at the time.
When he refused to go along with the “false story,” legal action followed.
