Conan O’Brien has finally broken his silence on the shocking deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle at the hands of their son Nick.
The When Harry Met Sally... director and his wife were found dead in their home and their 32-year-old son swiftly arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, a day after they attended the Academy Awards host’s party.
In an interview with The New Yorker, the comedian stated “I knew Rob and Michele, and then increasingly got closer and closer to them,” adding that him and his wife Liza Powel O'Brien, “were seeing them a lot.”
“They were just such lovely people, and to have that experience of saying good night to somebody and having them leave and then find out the next day that they’re gone…. I think I was in shock for quite a while afterward. I mean, there’s no other word for it,” he added of the late pair.
Conan called the incident awful and talked about the fact that it is incomprehensible to him that someone as involved in activism as Rob could be silenced in an instant.
Notably, the 62-year-old also remarked on the This Is Spinal Tap filmmaker’s discography and praised it highly.
Conan graduated with a degree in History and Literature from Harvard.
