Three months before the tragic death of Rob Reiner, he got candid about his relationship with his father, Carl Reiner, which he credited for shaping his views on parenting.
“I felt that my father didn’t, you know, love me or understand me,” the deceased director revealed on the radio show Fresh Air.
Notably, Rob's father was a well-known director who created The Dick Van Dyke Show, as well as The Jerk.
However, the father-son relationship was not ideal and influenced the Misery filmmaker regarding the perception of how he would raise his children.
“I was never, ever too busy,” he shared, further adding, “I mean, if anything, I was the other way. I was more hands-on and trying to do whatever I thought I could do to help."
In the same interview, Rob weighed in on his relationship with Nick and his treatment history related to substance abuse.
He went on to state, “He’s been great. He hasn’t been doing drugs for over six years. I mean, he’s in a really good place."
Allegedly, Nick is charged with killing his parents, Rob and Michelle.
However, it is being speculated whether he would plead insanity given his consistent history of mental health and substance issues amid the trial.
