Nick Jonas breaks hearts with raw new single on live TV

Nick Jonas proved he’s got the emotional chops to match his pop star charm on Wednesday night.

The 33-year-old singer stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform his latest solo single, Gut Punch.

Opening the performance at the piano, Jonas set a haunting scene with a ballerina twirling across the stage and two percussionists adding depth to the melody.

But it was when the chorus hit that he truly unleashed the raw emotion, rising from the piano bench and belting out the lyrics with an intensity that left the studio mesmerised.

“Hit me like a gut punch, I hurt my own feelings… I really hate the way I talk to myself,” he sang, laying bare his inner struggles.

Gut Punch, released on January 1, is the first taste of his upcoming solo album Sunday Best, due February 6.

The record marks Jonas’ first solo effort in five years, and he’s candidly reflected on fatherhood, marriage to Priyanka Chopra, and his own self-image.

It's worth noting that the singer teased the 11-track album as years in the making, sharing glimpses of quiet city walks and personal reflections.
