Ed Sheeran has officially concluded his long standing deal with Warner Music following 15 years and eight albums.
The British singer-songwriter shared the update through his newsletter, with Warner Music also confirming the split in remarks to Music Week, framing it as the end of a successful partnership.
“This isn’t a ‘disgruntled artist leaves record label’ type situation,” he mentioned, clarifying that the move was not rooted in conflict but in a broader personal and professional transition.
“This is a boy who started as a teenager… to the father of 2 man who exists now, who feels like he needs a shift and change in the way he does things professionally.”
However, Warner Music said it is “proud to have supported Ed through his discovery and remarkable rise,” adding that it will continue to manage his catalog under an ongoing partnership structure.
Meanwhile, his early releases remain under Warner ownership, while later projects are handled via his Gingerbread Man label and distributed through the company.
It is pertinent to mention, Sheeran has not yet confirmed his next label or distribution plans yet.
Fans quickly flooded social media with messages of support and admiration for his decision, with one netizen writing, "End of an era. Respect for prioritizing his roots and family!"
"15 years is such a huge chapter. wishing him nothing but happiness in whatever comes next," another chimed in.
