Martin Short recalls ‘chaos’ at Selena Gomez, Benny Blanco’s wedding

Martin Short is dishing on a major mistake he made that was later covered up at Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s wedding.

The Canadian comedian received an invite with the cast of Only Murders in the Building, in which he stars with the Rare beauty founder, and ended up causing a massive blunder after a couple of drinks.

In an appearance at Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, January 21st the Tony award winner revealed how he surprisingly intervened in one of the classic ceremonies at a wedding reception.

“All of us were together, and there was a cake — a wedding cake — by our section. But it was a small wedding cake. I just assumed that there was a wedding cake for each section in the back, so after a few hours — and they haven’t cut their wedding cake yet — Steve said he was gonna leave,” he said.

“And maybe I’d had a cocktail — I don’t know. So I said, ‘Steve, you can’t leave yet without a piece of wedding cake!’ I had a fork in my hand, and I cut the wedding cake [on] one side [and] cut it [on] the other. And then all the people in our group screamed, ‘Marty!'” Martin added.

The Father of the Bride actor added that the French chef who presumably made the cake got angry when he realised what had happened, and then performed surgery on the cake.

Martin jokingly adding that it then became a very Hollywood wedding cake since it was beautiful again, but this time with a little work done and that although he didn’t want Selena to find out about it all she did but played it off.

Is Selena married now?

Yes, Selena is now married to Benny, and the wedding ceremony took place on 27th September.
