Stanley Tucci recently explains why he never accepted cooking show offers despite being a cookbook author.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 star responds to a question about being approached by food TV shows during his appearance on latest episode of Happy Sad Confused podcast with host Josh Horowitz.

The Oscar-nominated actor admits that he doesn’t like competition when it “comes to art or food”.

Stanley finds it “silly,” knowing that these cooking shows are “hugely successful”.

However, The Hunger Games actor “finds it false and weird”.

For Stanley, “cooking is the opposite of that. It should be a thing that brings people together, not separates them”.

“A thing that allows for communion, not for competition,” remarks the 65-year-old.

Elsewhere in the interview, Stanley also argues that the cooking competition in the entertainment industry is quite “strange” and weird as the arts “are completely subjective”.

“It's wonderful when you get nominated for stuff. It's wonderful when you get an award, but do I really believe??” questions the Lovely Bones actor while sharing about his father’s thought on grading arts.

Stanley notes that people are different and they all have “different perceptions of what they're seeing”.

“It's completely subjective. So, how do you grade that? How do you say, 'You're the best actor?' Doesn't make any sense,” adds the actor.

Meanwhile, Stanley is currently promoting the second season of Tucci in Italy, which will begin streaming via National Geographic on May 13.
