Taylor Swift’s attorneys recently clapped back at former Las Vegas showgirl Maren Flagg’s who sued the singer for trademark infringement.

In the lawsuit filed in March, Maren, who goes by Maren Wade when she performs, alleged that the Cruel Summer crooner’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, infringes up her 2015 trademark of the phrase, “Confessions of a Showgirl,” which she said was used for her brand.

According to Variety, Maren had asked Taylor to block from selling related merchandise amid her lawsuit.

However, in a brief filed by the singer’s lawyers, they stated, “This motion, just like Maren Flagg’s lawsuit, should never have been filed.”

“It is simply Ms. Flagg’s latest attempt to use Taylor Swift’s name and intellectual property to prop up her brand,” explained Taylor’s legal team.

On the other hand, the Opalite singer’s lawyers pointed out that Maren “performs, if at all, in small intimate venues, such as a: ’55+ active community,’ ’55+ golf resort’; ‘RV & Golf Resort’; ’90 seat cabaret-style venue’ that offers dinner; hotel; and private supper club”.

“Her website lists no upcoming performances,” they said.

Meanwhile, Taylor’s lawyers reportedly accused Maren, saying, that before the album announcement, “plaintiff had never used ‘the life of a showgirl’ in her social media promotion”.

“Following the announcement, plaintiff used the phrase or posted generally about Ms. Swift or the album over 40 times on her branded Instagram and TikTok accounts,” they added.
