Timothée Chalamet and Robert Downey Jr. joined forces in Los Angeles, at a special screening of the former’s Marty Supreme.
The duo also talked about the fact that both their movies are coming out on December 18th, namely Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday respectively.
Addressing the crowd in the room, the Iron Man actor stated “We both have films opening on December 18, and we decided to coin it … We’re thinking Dunesday,” which made the audience laugh.
Robert quipped, “We’ll see if we’re still friends by then,” but the Academy Award winner later complimented the two-time Oscar nominee by telling him that he was a great actor.
Meanwhile the term ‘Dunesday’ garnered buss on social media before the 60-year-old mentioned it and was a play on the cultural phenomenon ‘Barbenheimer.’
‘Barbenheimer’ exploded in 2023 since both Barbie and Oppenheimer were also films with mass audiences coming out on the same day.
This marketing, which was essentially created by fans ended up being successful as both the movies drew in large crowds and revenue.
‘Dunesday’ is expected to be the next ‘Barbenheimer’ style event taking place in December 2026.
