Hugh Jackman delivers a bold reinterpretation of the legendary outlaw in the first trailer for The Death of Robin Hood, a dark and introspective take on the classic tale set for release later this year.

The trailer, unveiled ahead of the film’s theatrical debut, presents Jackman nearly unrecognizable with long gray hair and a heavy beard in the role of a battle-worn Robin Hood who has outlived the myth that surrounds him.

Directed and written by Michael Sarnoski, known for Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One, the A24 production strips away the romanticized legend to reveal a more grounded and haunted figure.

In the trailer, Robin Hood is depicted as an aging man weighed down by violence and regret, forced to confront the brutal truths of his past rather than the folklore that cast him as a hero.

According to People, the cast also includes Jodie Comer, who plays a mysterious woman (not Maid Marian) whose connection to Robin brings moments of emotional depth, and Bill Skarsgård in the role of Little John.

Moreover, both actors contribute to an ensemble that encapsulates the film’s somber tone.

Shot on location in Ireland, The Death of Robin Hood explores themes of legacy, morality, and the gap between legend and lived experience.
