Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be keeping a low profile and doing “everything right” ahead of Christmas but royal experts say one big problem remains in the way of a full family reunion.
Royal commentators Kinsey Schofield and Rupert Bell discussed Meghan’s recent Harper’s Bazaar interview, with Bell declaring: "Harry and Meghan are creating huge problems for the Royal Family."
But according to some analysts, that assessment might be missing the bigger picture.
Speaking to Daily Express US, Pauline Maclaran, co-author of Royal Fever and Professor at Royal Holloway, thinks the couple is intentionally avoiding drama.
"It seems to me that Harry and Meghan are trying to not cause anymore controversies as far as their Royal relatives are concerned. I feel they have been on their best behaviour recently”, she said.
Bell suggested the Royal Family is struggling to stay relevant, but ironically, the constant focus on Harry and Meghan may be the very thing keeping the monarchy alive in global conversation.
"I agree that Harry and Meghan help keep interest in the monarchy, especially all the speculation that goes on around the family dynamics and Harry's relationship with his father, brother and the wider circle of royals”, she explained.
She added that the ongoing intrigue is exactly what keeps the institution relatable: "There's always scope for more news articles covering some aspect of these relationships, and it helps not only keep the royals current, but also seems more emotionally accessible to us."
