The universe’s most iconic alien-busting duo could be gearing up for a return, or at least half of it.
Sony Pictures is quietly developing a brand-new Men In Black film, with hopes of luring Will Smith back into the iconic black suit as Agent J.
The studio has tapped Bad Boys for Life writer Chris Bremner to pen the script, but insiders say Smith won’t make a decision until he’s seen the finished draft.
Sony wants Agent J back, whether in a flashy leading role or a nostalgic supporting turn.
For now, the 57-year-old actor remains officially unattached, but the door is wide open.
The franchise first blasted onto screens in 1997 and went on to rake in a massive $1.9 billion worldwide.
Yet the I Am Legend star has admitted he “wasn’t happy” with the later sequels, confessing on The Tonight Show that he’d “fumbled a couple” of follow-ups and was hesitant to repeat past mistakes.
More recently, he told Hot Ones that today’s TV landscape has made blockbuster success harder than ever, with audiences expecting far more before leaving the sofa.
