Zoë Kravitz played Catwoman alongside Robert Pattinson’s Batman, but according to recent reports she will not be returning for the sequel, which has devastated fans of the series.
The Caught Stealing actress might be replaced by another icon in the superhero universe, the star who has been the face of Black Widow up till now.
As per Deadline, Scarlett Johansson is being eyed as the new, unspecified lead opposite Robert, and the update has devastated a majority of netizens.
A majority of them grieved the exclusion of Zoë in the upcoming project, while others debated if even her character, Catwoman herself would make a comeback.
One internet user theorised, “I mean yeah ofc she won’t return as catwoman that’s because at the end of The Batman (2022) - catwoman literally left batman and gotham at the end of the first batman and that’s why zoe kravitz isn’t returning, because catwoman isn’t either.”
“Zoé Kravitz was so special to me in that role. She embodied the mystique so well. Damn in sad she don’t wanna come back,” wrote another netizen, with many voicing similar sentiments to her being perfect for the role.
Meanwhile others blamed her new flame Harry Styles and his career hiatus for contributing to the snub, writing, “zoë kravitz not in the batman part 2 so i blocked harry styles.”
Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman in the 1992 Tim Burton film Batman Returns is often credited as the best.
