Oscar-winning actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph may have a career full of standout roles, from Dolemite Is My Name to Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, but one project keeps pulling her back: High Fidelity.
The 2020 Hulu series, a modern gender-swapped take on the John Cusack classic, starred Zoë Kravitz as Robyn Rob Brooks, a record-store owner in Brooklyn navigating love and heartbreak.
Randolph played Cherise, one of Rob’s closest friends, earning praise for her comedic timing and heartfelt performances.
When asked by Rolling Stone if she’d like to see the show return after its abrupt cancellation, Randolph didn’t hold back.
“Absolutely. We all feel the same way. Zoë and I talk about it all the time, like, ‘How can we figure this out?’ Give it back to the people, but really give it back to us, because we just really love it,” she revealed.
Randolph also acknowledged the challenge of bringing a show back.
“It’s a really tricky one, because you’re trying to recapture lightning in a bottle. Sometimes you have to just let things be what it is organically and trust in the process to find the next thing,” she said.
Fans of the series can rest assured that Randolph and Kravitz’s enthusiasm keeps hope alive for a potential revival, even if the next chapter isn’t written yet.
