Billy Ray Cyrus is remembering his father, Ron Cyrus, on Father’s Day in a heartfelt tribute filled with family memories.
The country star turned to his official Instagram on Sunday, June 21, posting a nostalgic tribute that included an unseen childhood picture of Miley Cyrus with her grandfather.
Alongside the image, he opened up about the emotional impact of his father’s passing in 2006, which came while he was filming the first season of Hannah Montana in Los Angeles.
“My dad passed away in 2006 while we were filming the first season of Hannah Montana in LA. When I got home after his funeral, I found his message on the answering machine,” he penned.
He also revealed that one of his father’s favorite songs held a deeper meaning for him, saying, “How’ve You Been” was one of his favorite songs.
Honouring that connection, he shared that the message has now been preserved in his latest work. “@braisonccyrus and I recorded it and included it on THE HILL!!!” the singer added.
Moreover, he posted throwback family photos featuring Ron Cyrus with his granddaughters Miley and Noah, writing,
“These photos are some of my favorite memories... Dad with @mileycyrus and @noahcyrus,” before signing off with, “Happy Father’s Day,” and noting he was heading to perform at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth.
