J.K. Rowling visits HBO‘s ‘Harry Potter’ series set to see progress

J.K. Rowling made her first visit to the set of HBO‘s adaptation of her beloved fantasy franchise, the Harry Potter series.

The visit took place at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and on various locations across the UK, where the series has been filming over the summer, the sources confirmed to Deadline.

One source jokingly likened the moment to a royal visit, with senior members of the production team rearranging schedules to welcome Rowling. 

HBO declined to comment on the visit.

Rowling serves as an executive producer on the series, contributing to key writing and casting decisions alongside showrunner Francesca Gardiner. 

Back in June, the author shared her excitement about the project, revealing, “I read the first two episodes of the forthcoming HBO Harry Potter series and they are SO, SO, SO GOOD.”

Since the series was first announced in 2023, Rowling has praised HBO’s “commitment to preserving the integrity of my books,” adding that the long-form format allows for a depth and detail only possible on television.

Fans can expect Rowling’s vision to be faithfully translated to the screen, with her hands-on involvement ensuring the magic of Hogwarts is captured in every scene.
