Netflix’s hard-hitting drama Adolescence continues to rack up accolades, with the Rose d’Or Awards naming the series as the recipient of its top prize, the Golden Rose.
The drama, co-created by Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham, recently dominated the Emmys, taking home eight awards, including six Primetime Emmys, from 13 nominations.
Now, the show is set to receive the Golden Rose, the event’s most prestigious honor, which recognizes programmes that make an exceptional contribution and become part of national and international discourse.
Chair of the Rose d’Or Awards, Mark Rowland, praised Adolescence, saying: “Adolescence exemplifies the values of this special Golden Rose award—outstanding programme-making that changes the way people think about a subject."
Rowland further acknowledged Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham's work, stating that they "have created a work of true emotional and cultural impact, and we are thrilled to recognise their achievement at this year’s Rose d’Or Awards.”
The series has also been named a finalist in the Drama category at the 64th Rose d’Or Awards, which celebrate excellence and innovation across global television.
Previous winners include Chernobyl (2019) and ITV’s Storming the Capitol: The Inside Story (2021).
Adolescence, which follows a boy accused of murder after encountering incel culture online, has become a must-watch for teens and parents alike, averaging 45 million views per month.
Writer Jack Thorne is scheduled to attend the award ceremony in London on December 1 to accept the honor.
