Meghan Markle is facing fresh backlash after a string of high-profile announcements coincided with major royal moments, leading a PR expert to warn the duchess risks looking “obsessive.”
On Wednesday, Meghan’s surprise return to acting and news that her As Ever lifestyle brand had debuted in stores dropped just hours before Prince William’s Earthshot Prize ceremony in Brazil and his appearance at COP30.
PR strategist Renae Smith, founder of The Atticism, told Express UK: “It’s happening so often now that it’s hard to keep calling it a coincidence. Whether intentional or not, it’s starting to look calculated, and that’s dangerous.”
“If your narrative looks like it’s competing with someone else’s, you lose control of your own brand. It makes her look reactive and obsessive.”
She urged the duchess to “pull back,” adding: “Let William have his Earthshot moment. Let her own news breathe — otherwise it just becomes part of their story, not hers.”
