Even royals get nervous about football legends, and Prince William just proved it.
During a playful interview with The Sun, the Prince of Wales made a surprisingly candid confession about his close friend David Beckham that’s left royal-watchers and sports fans buzzing.
When asked to choose between Zinedine Zidane and Beckham for a crucial penalty shoot-out, William laughed before grimacing: “This gonna hurt. Becks, I think… just. I think Becks might kill me if I don’t say him.”
But when comparing Beckham to Cristiano Ronaldo, the Prince showed no hesitation in choosing the Portuguese star.
The football icon, 49, was recently appointed an ambassador for King Charles’s Foundation and has often supported William’s causes, including the London Air Ambulance appeal.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Beckham admitted he becomes “emotional” when discussing his royal work.
“Whenever the Prince of Wales asks me to help or be there, it’s always a yes,” he said.
