US President Donald Trump has shared his reaction to the Royal Family’s dramatic decision to strip Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, of his titles and honours.
Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump described the move by King Charles as “a terrible thing” and expressed sympathy for the family’s ongoing turmoil.
“It’s a terrible thing that’s happened to the family,” Trump told reporters, according to GB News.
“That’s been a tragic situation and it’s too bad. I mean, I feel badly for the family.”
The remarks come after King Charles formally removed his younger brother’s royal titles, including Duke of York, and served notice for him to vacate Royal Lodge, following years of controversy surrounding his ties to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
While Andrew has consistently denied all allegations of wrongdoing, the scandal has cast a long shadow over the monarchy, prompting Charles to act decisively.
