Alec Baldwin faces new lawsuit over fatal ‘Rust’ shooting

Alec Baldwin, known as one of Hollywood’s most seasoned actors and producers, is facing a fresh legal battle.

The 67-year-old actor has landed in hot water as the Rust prop gun supplier sues him and the film’s producers, claiming they destroyed his career to cover up their own mistakes.

Seth Kenney, the owner of PDQ Arm and Prop, LLC, allegedly provided the firearm involved in the tragic 2021 Rust shooting in New Mexico, which claimed the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza during production.

In a lawsuit filed on October 22, Seth accused Alec and the production team of conspiring to run a “scapegoat smear campaign” against him and his company.

He insists the gun was in perfect working condition and rented “under strict safety guidelines,” blaming the crew for breaching the agreement by allowing a live round to be loaded and fired.

While, the Beetlejuice actor has repeatedly claimed he never pulled the trigger and was unaware the weapon contained live ammunition. 

Notably, his involuntary manslaughter charge was dismissed earlier this year, while armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was sentenced to 14 months in prison for loading the live round.

Apart from this, the 30 Rock actor was recently involved in a car accident on October 13 in East Hampton, New York, while driving a white Range Rover with his brother, Stephen Baldwin. 

The vehicle reportedly crashed into a tree after a “garbage truck the size of a whale” cut him off, forcing him to swerve. 

Fortunately, both brothers were unharmed, though the car sustained major damage. 

Alec later assured fans on Instagram that he was “fine,” blaming wet road conditions and the sudden obstruction for the crash.
