Hugh Jackman spills if his kids will follow his acting career

Hugh Jackman is letting his kids decide their future instead of pressuring them to follow in his footsteps or conform to societal norms.

At the 2025 AFI Fest premiere of his and Kate Hudson’s new movie, Song Sung Blue, the Oscar-nominated actor spoke to E! News about his children’s career preferences.

Jackman shares two kids, Oscar Maximilian, 25, and Ava Eliot, 20, with his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness.

He admitted he isn’t sure whether Oscar and Ava will pursue acting. “They’d both be very good, but I don’t know,” Jackman told the outlet. “I just want them to do what they love.”

Jackman and Furness, who tied the knot in 1996, separated in September 2023 after nearly three decades of marriage.

“We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” they said in a joint statement to PEOPLE at the time.

“Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” the statement added. 

The couple concluded in the statement that their family has been and always will be their highest priority.

"We greatly appreciate your understanding as our family navigates this transition,” the statement ended.
