Demi Lovato, who has long battled mental health and addiction issues, has opened up about the darkest struggles of her life.
The 33-year-old singer, who first entered rehab in 2010 after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and bulimia, appeared on the Las Culturistas podcast, where she admitted she feels a “responsibility” to help others by sharing her story.
The Heart Attack hitmaker revealed that she made a life-changing decision at just 18 years old.
“My manager asked me, ‘Do you want to be public with what you’re going through, or sweep it under the rug?’” she recalled.
“I chose to be open because I wish I had someone like that growing up.”
Demi, who famously quit a Jonas Brothers tour after punching a dancer, said she wanted to be the voice she never had as a teenager.
She explained that as a young girl, she never saw anyone openly discussing issues like eating disorders or mental health, and she wanted to be the person to change that for others.
Now happily married to musician Jordan ‘Jutes’ Lutes, the songstress says her life finally feels lighter.
“I’m not in this place where I need huge emotional ballads anymore,” she told PAPER magazine.
Demi Lovato tied the knot with Jutes on May 25, 2025, in an intimate ceremony held in California.
The couple, who first met while collaborating on music in 2022, had been dating for several years before getting engaged.
Their wedding was described as private and deeply personal, reflecting the close bond they share.
Despite being open about many aspects of her life, the Let It Go singer does not have any children but has spoken in the past about her hopes of starting a family.
Demi Lovato’s most well-known ex is actor Max Ehrich, whom she got engaged to in July 2020.
However, the engagement was short-lived, and the couple split just two months later in September 2020.
