Prince Andrew is officially no longer Duke of York.
On Friday, Andrew took the decisive step to renounce his titles after the heavy backlash amid the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
The decision was taken as the scandals surrounding the prince were taking attention away from the royal family’s work.
However, it was reported earlier on Monday that while he had renounced his titles, only the Parliament can actually strip him of them.
Now, it has been confirmed that the axe has officially fallen on the father-of-two.
The official website of the British royal family has updated Prince Andrew’s profile, three days after his decision which was announced in a statement.
As of Monday, the official website shows Andrew as “Prince Andrew” instead of “Duke of York”.
This update signifies the formal shift of repositioning of his role within the monarchy.
The change comes after Andrew said on Friday that he is taking this step because “continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.”
The situation unrolled ahead of the launch of Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous autobiography.
Virginia described being trafficked to the Duke of York, at least three times and in her memoir she recounts the incidents in her words.
