Busta Rhymes is fighting lawsuit with lawsuit as he files counterclaims against his former assistant Dashiel Gables.
The Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See singer, whose real name is Trevor George Smith Jr., was accused of verbally and physically assaulting the employee among other violations, to which the former has responded with a defamation suit.
In filings obtained by People, the record producer alleges that he experienced "damage to reputation, goodwill, and standing in the music and advertising industries" as a result of the suit filed in August of 2025.
Trevor’s legal team continues, “Smith did not assault or batter Gables. Gables knew the statements were false, or acted with reckless disregard for the truth, including by fabricating allegations of criminal conduct and violence, omitting exculpatory facts and deliberately ignoring contrary evidence.”
Meanwhile the initial filing by Dashiel claimed that he had experienced assault, battery, wage and hour violations and emotional distress as a result of all of it.
The assistant described the instances of assault by alleging that the 53-year-old would spit in people’s faces as well as punch and verbally abuse them.
Notably, Trevor has been charged in the past for the assault of Dashiel after he turned himself in but the case was ultimately sealed.
Busta Rhyme’s estimated net worth is $20 million in 2025.
