Sarah Ferguson reportedly took a subtle swipe at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry after the couple’s baby news overshadowed Princess Eugenie’s wedding in 2018.
At the time, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were still working royals and had just discovered they were expecting their first child, Prince Archie.
But their happy news broke at a rather inconvenient moment, during Eugenie’s big day at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
According to royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, the timing of the announcement “did not go down particularly well” with Eugenie or her mother, Sarah, Duchess of York.
In what many saw as a pointed response, Fergie posted a flurry of tweets celebrating Eugenie’s wedding right as the palace confirmed Meghan’s pregnancy, a move widely interpreted as a subtle dig.
Sources claimed Fergie was “furious” that the Sussexes had “outshone” her daughter’s big moment.
