Royal fans have voiced frustration after Kate Middleton skipped England’s Women’s Rugby World Cup final, despite being patron of the Rugby Football Union.
On Saturday, the Red Roses secured a dominant 33-13 victory over Canada in front of a record-breaking 81,885 crowd at Twickenham, clinching the world title.
But many supporters were quick to notice the Princess of Wales’ absence from the historic match.
Kate, 43, is an avid rugby fan and has been a visible supporter of the team since becoming RFU patron.
Ahead of the final, she even shared a personal message on social media along with a previously unseen snap from her visit to the Red Roses’ September 6 match against Australia. Posting to X, she wrote: “Good luck England! We’re so proud of you! C.”
However, fans online said the congratulatory message wasn’t enough. One X user wrote: “Well done to England’s Roses today on their World Cup win. Just a shame that the Princess of Wales, as their Patron, was unable to be there today.”
Another added: “HRH Catherine should have been there at the final; earlier appearances don’t negate missing the biggest moment.”
