Prince Andrew's words to Prince William revealed by lip reader

A lip reader has revealed what Prince Andrew said to Prince William during a tense moment at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral, an exchange that reportedly left the Prince of Wales “furious.”

The Duke of York, 65, made an unexpected appearance at Westminster Cathedral on Tuesday alongside his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. 

While senior royals appeared sombre, Andrew was seen smiling and laughing, sparking criticism and awkwardness. 

His behaviour, paired with his sudden presence, is said to have deeply frustrated Prince William.

According to lip reader Jeremy Freeman, Andrew appeared to say: “…we had a lovely time in those days, didn’t we… I remember those days.” 

Earlier, in an interview, royal author Andrew Lownie told the Mirror that William felt “ambushed” and was left “furious” at being drawn into an interaction with his disgraced uncle.

“He has been at pains to distance himself from his uncle and not be photographed with him,” Lownie explained. 

“He believes his father has not dealt with him with sufficient firmness and that Andrew, and Sarah Ferguson – have done much to undermine the good work of other members of the Royal Family.”
