Ed Sheeran, who is gearing up to drop his next album Play, has taken fans by surprise with a revelation.

The 34-year-old singer disclosed he has a posthumous album, Eject, that will only be released after his death.

While his last record during his lifetime will be Stop, but the tracklist for Eject will be chosen by his wife, Cherry Seaborn.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Ed explained: “It’s actually in my will. Cherry gets to pick the tracks. If I were to go tomorrow, it’s all there.”

Furthermore, the chart-topping singer revealed that the album will feature his “10 best” songs from the age of 18 onwards.

The Perfect singer, who shares children Lyra, five, and Jupiter, three, with Cherry, insists he’s guiding the selection but doesn’t want anyone else “jumbling up stuff and putting it out” after he’s gone.

The revelation follows reports of Ed building a church and burial chamber at his Suffolk estate, including a “burial zone beneath” slab.

Fans won’t have long to wait for new music, though: Ed’s highly anticipated album Play drops this Friday, September 12, while its follow-up, Rewind, is slated for 2027.
