Prince Harry admits parenthood changed everything about his life

Prince Harry has revealed the one thing that completely changed his outlook on life: becoming a parent.

Speaking at the WellChild Awards in London on September 8, the Duke of Sussex admitted: “Once you become a parent yourself, everything changes."

"It’s emotional enough not being a parent and seeing what these families go through, but when you have your own kids - that’s when it really hits you.”

Harry, who shares son Archie, six, and daughter Lilibet, four, with Meghan Markle, recalled tearing up at the 2018 ceremony. “I choked up on stage… I am so grateful to have healthy kids,” he said.

The annual event celebrates seriously ill children and their carers, and Harry has been patron of the charity for 17 years.

At London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel, he told the young winners: “Each of you is a beacon of hope and inspiration, not just to those in this room, but to the nation.”

Harry’s UK trip, his longest in years, has been packed with charity visits.

On Monday, he marked the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death with a private visit to her grave at Windsor.

The next day, he announced a £1.1 million personal donation to BBC Children in Need, supporting young people affected by violence, during an engagement in Nottingham.

The duke even lightened the mood with a laugh, admitting: “I’ve lost count of the number of visits I’ve made here and the amount of jerk chicken I’ve eaten on almost every occasion on the way back. It really is banging.”
