Meghan Markle faces new court drama with sister Samantha Markle

Meghan Markle is bracing for a nerve-wracking day as her half-sister Samantha Markle makes a last-ditch effort to revive her failed libel lawsuit.

Samantha originally sued the Duchess of Sussex in 2022 over remarks Meghan made during her Oprah Winfrey interview and the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan. 

However, the case was dismissed in March 2024. 

Now, Samantha’s legal team is appealing the decision in a Jacksonville, Florida courtroom at 9 AM local time.

If Samantha wins this appeal, Meghan could be forced into a trial, and potentially face paying damages. But if she loses, there’s no higher court to turn to, marking the end of her three-year campaign.

Samantha’s lawyer, Peter Ticktin, warned that Meghan would finally be made “accountable for harming the people she harms,” adding: “If I were to give advice to Meghan, it would be to wake up and smell the coffee.”

At the heart of Samantha’s case are Meghan’s comments about growing up “as an only child,” despite having half-siblings Thomas Jr. and Samantha. 

Samantha also argued that Netflix guided viewers to believe she orchestrated a hate campaign against the Duchess.
