Ariana Grande’s brother Frankie Grande’s unexpected reaction to Tate McRae’s VMA performance raised questions on social media.

The 42-year-old singer was seen sitting beside his popstar sister, Ariana, at the music award show on September 7.

According to a video circulating online, the actor appeared to be shaking his head and scowling as he watched the 22-year-old musician perform her single, Sports Car.

Netizens took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their sentiment about his negative hater energy. One fan wrote, “Why’s he making that face when his music is awful, no shade.” Another follower penned, “His opinion doesn’t matter.”

Despite the surprising reaction, Grande shut down the speculations by gushing about the McRae at the VMAs Celeb POV stream.

He said, “'I love Tate McRae. I'm obsessed with her. She's beautiful, and her makeup artist killed it today.”

Later, other videos emerged which depicted the Rhythm of Love hitmaker enthusiastically shaking the young artist’s hand when she met Ariana.

On the other hand, the Grande siblings celebrated the high-energy night when the 32-year-old singer won Video of the Year award for her track, Brighter Days Ahead.

When does Ariana Grande’s 'Eternal Sunshine' tour begin?

The Eternal Sunshine tour is Ariana's fifth concert tour. The singer shared on her Instagram that the tour will commence on June 6, 2026, and conclude on August 23, 2026.
